Suffering or Sick? Pray

Are any of you suffering hardships? You should pray. Are any of you happy? You should sing praises. Are any of you sick? You should call for the elders of the church to come and pray over you, anointing you with oil in the name of the Lord. Such a prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make you well. And if you have committed any sins, you will be forgiven. James 5:13-15

A sweet friend recently messaged me that she was sick—suffering from a horrible respiratory infection. I made her some chicken soup. What else did she need…7-Up and orange juice? I packed up the soup, juice and soda. What she asked for most was prayer—so I prayed with her. We just have to believe that Jesus heard our prayer…and He will answer it. There is wisdom in asking the Lord for healing...physically or spiritually.

Jesus sent out His disciple…the twelve and then later seventy-two…to reach the Israelites first with the message that the Kingdom of God is near. He also charged them with healing the sick. They were elated that they had the power to not only heal, but also to cast out demons in Jesus’ name. See this account in Luke 10.

Jesus suffered for us.
Pray.

physically and spiritually.
Have you ever tried to heal someone with prayer? It is an amazing gift. Healing. Jesus told us to ask…And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. Luke 11:9.  He also said…You haven't done this before. Ask, using my name, and you will receive, and you will have abundant joy. John 16:24. Be thankful for Jesus’ promise and His healing touch in our lives. We can all use more joy in our lives.
Prayer ~ Lord Jesus, give us grace to call upon You always, praying with thanksgiving. May the peace that comes from You, Lord, rule in our hearts. For as members of one body we are called to live in peace and always be thankful. (Colossians 3:15)

Friday’s Feast at the King’s Table
It is time to start considering a few extra dishes for Thanksgiving besides turkey, mashed potatoes, dressing and pumpkin pie.  I enjoy having a special appetizer and here is a crab fondue that I discovered years ago at a nearby winery while on a wine tasting trip the day after Thanksgiving.

Crab Fondue
8 oz. cream cheese
¼ cup white wine
1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
4 scallions, chopped
8 oz. crab meat

Mix wine, cream cheese and ginger together and heat gently until warm. Add crab meat and top with scallions. Serve in a fondue pot to keep warm. This is tasty with chunks of whole grain toast, crackers, sliced apples or celery.
