Is Your Hope Deferred?

Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a dream fulfilled is a tree of life. Proverbs 13:12

Row, row, row your boat,

Gently down the stream,

Merrily, merrily, merrily,

Live is but a dream.

Life is but a dream…or is it? Of course not. Life is real. No dreaming here…not like Joseph or his coworkers, the baker and cup-bearer, who had dreams that predicted and changed their future. Not like visions of Daniel, Ezekiel or John. They dreamed of the future…the end of the time which maybe in our future. Those dreams described in Daniel, Ezekiel and Revelation may seem a little scary…with spinning wheels and multi-headed beasts…but they illustrate situations that were totally foreign to those authors. We’ve read the book, so we have an advantage, knowing the end. Our “hope” may be concealed or seem to be delayed…but we are not without hope. Those dreams will be fulfilled, even if it is not in our time. God will reign forever and ever. There will be trees of life…Then the angel showed me (John) a river with the water of life, clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb. It flowed down the center of the main street. On each side of the river grew a tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, with a fresh crop each month. The leaves were used for medicine to heal the nations. Revelation 22:1-2. (Underlining mine.)
Tree of Life?
Old olive trees in the Garden of Gethsemane.
The tree of life offers just that…life…eternal life—to be lived with God in heaven. Until that day comes when we are taken up to be with Him…we’ll endure our life here on earth…filled with joy—knowing that the Lord is near and the end is glorious.

Wisdom is a tree of life to those who embrace her; happy are those who hold her tightly. Proverbs 3:18

Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand what He is saying to the churches. To everyone who is victorious I will give fruit from the tree of life in the paradise of God. Revelation 2:7

Blessed are those who wash their robes. They will be permitted to enter through the gates of the city and eat the fruit from the tree of life. Revelation 22:14.

Are your robes…your heart…washed? Will you be permitted to enter the new city of Jerusalem…in Heaven…and eat of the fruit of the tree of life?

I will meet you in the air…or up there.

Prayer ~ Dear Jesus, as You said in Revelation…"Let the one who does wrong, still do wrong; and the one who is filthy, still be filthy; and let the one who is righteous, still practice righteousness; and the one who is holy, still keep himself holy. Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to render to every man according to what he has done." Revelation 22:11-12 NASB. Help me, my family, friends and neighbors make good choices that we would be found holy and righteous by You…and that we would one day feast together on the fruit of the tree of life. Our hope will not be deferred. We praise You and give You Thanks.
