Lord, your discipline is good, for it leads
to life and health. You restore my health and allow me to live! Isaiah
38:16
Wisdom is produced by discipline…and
discipline cannot exist without wisdom. Most of the time we think about
discipline as associated with training or punishing a child—to help them make
good decisions and be well behaved.
·
To discipline a child produces wisdom, but a mother is disgraced by an
undisciplined child. Proverbs 29:15.
·
Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat
them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from
the Lord. Ephesians 6:4
·
Joyful are those you discipline, LORD, those you teach with your
instructions. Psalm 94:12
·
To learn, you must love discipline; it is stupid to hate correction.
Proverbs 12:1
·
Those who spare the rod of discipline hate their children. Those who
love their children care enough to discipline them. Proverbs 13:24
·
For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power,
love, and self-discipline. 2 Timothy 1:7
·
I correct and discipline everyone I love. So be diligent and turn from
your indifference. Revelation 3:19. [Written to the church at Laodicea—the lukewarm
church.]
The Lord disciplines all of His children—like
any good parent. How do you see Him disciplining you? Sit up straight, listen and obey!
Prayer
~ Lord, as You discipline me with love, give me the grace to accept the changes
I need to make in my life to live to please You. May I be healthier, physically
and spiritually, as You show me a better way to live.
