Did You Forget Something?

But watch out! Be careful never to forget what you yourself have seen. Do not let these memories escape from your mind as long as you live! And be sure to pass them on to your children and grandchildren. Deuteronomy 4:9

Memories—the things you have seen God do in your life, like Moses reminded the Israelites as he wrote in Deuteronomyare important to recall and share with your children and grandchildren. Spiritually the important things might be when you first accepted Christ as your Savior—your Messiah—and then your baptism. Can you tell the story of your spiritual life…of your spiritual growth? What scripture verses are important to you? What verses have helped you?

Personally, I like to focus on Jesus response when asked what is the most important Commandment. Jesus replied, "The most important commandment is this: 'Listen, O Israel! The LORD our God is the one and only LORD. And you must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.' The second is equally important: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' No other commandment is greater than these." Mark 12:29-31 (also found in Matthew 22 and Luke 10). It is a great passage to focus on when I need a word of encouragement to think, say and do the right thing. If my actions are not showing “love” to God, then I need to think again!
Another verse that guides me is…And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Philippians 4:8. Pure wisdom. One final thing…Think. Remember to put God first and honor Him be thinking about the good, pure and lovely things. Things God has done for you. Continue to honor Him with a grateful heart.

Prayer ~ Lord Jesus, I don't worry about anything—knowing that You care about my every need. Thank You for all You have done—and for helping me to remember that and to tell others, particularly family and friends, just what You have done in my life. Philippians 4:6
