Peter would glorify God in his death—but he still struggled to glorify
God day by day. Love Jesus—love His followers. Feed them spiritually and care
for them. Could Peter do that? Not without Jesus’ help and encouragement. Can
we? Not without Jesus’ help and encouragement. Just as Jesus was telling
Peter—He is telling us the same thing. Follow Me. We can follow Jesus—we just
need to do it. We need to take up His cross, our cross, daily just as Jesus
told His disciples shortly after He fed the five thousand men. If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must
deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me. Luke 9:23. Deny
ourselves. In this “it’s all about me” society, that may be hard for
some people to do. To put others’ needs before our own, and to consider others
more important. That’s not how people see things. So often our eyes are blinded
to the needs of others. We have to really stop and look to even see that there
are people with unmet needs very close to us—not unmet “wants” but true unmet
needs for food, clothing and shelter. Unmet spiritual needs. Everyone needs the
Lord. What can you do to meet those needs today?
RSVP: Jesus has opened our eyes to the needs of others
and the reality that we need to take up our cross and follow Him—daily. How
will you respond to Him today?
Prayer ~ Jesus, I
choose to take up my cross and follow You. Show me how I can serve You by
serving others.
