The disciples are called to have breakfast with Jesus on the shore of the
Sea of Galilee after a hard night of fishing with no catch. But with the
morning light and Jesus suggestion, they had a fresh catch encouraging their
hearts. Their stomachs were growling—ready for a big breakfast. Jesus had
cooked some fish and prepared bread. Come and eat. They didn’t need to be asked
a second time. You can practically see them running to Jesus and the food that
He had prepared. Smell the fish cooked over the open fire. Come and eat. Do you
have to be asked a second time to “Come and have breakfast?”
RSVP: Jesus is calling you to join Him for a meal—to
share in the bounty that He provides. Will you give Him thanks today and join
Him at a table for a meal? How will you respond to Him today?
Prayer ~ Jesus, I hear You calling
and inviting me to come to Your table—to feast with You. The spiritual food
that You provide is a lifetime of reading and understanding Your Word. It is
new every day. The bounty of the food for our physical bodies is overwhelming—such
variety and everything is so tasty. Thank You for Your creativity in designing marvelous
plants that give us such delightful foods during this late summer harvest. I am
so enjoying the melons, cucumbers and tomatoes.
