Prayer – Lord, You are so awesome. You are so powerful—removing or scattering Your enemies and mine. Remind me every day in Your qualities and please continue to show these to me, as well as to my family, friends, and neighbors. We rejoice—totally filled with joy.
Rise up, O God, and scatter your enemies. Let
those who hate God run for their lives. Blow them away like smoke. Melt them
like wax in a fire. Let the wicked perish in the presence of God. But let the
godly rejoice. Let them be glad in God's presence. Let them be filled with joy.
Sing praises to God and to his name! Sing loud praises to him who rides the
clouds. His name is the LORD—rejoice in his presence! Father to the
fatherless, defender of widows—this is God, whose dwelling is holy. God places
the lonely in families; he sets the prisoners free and gives them joy. But he
makes the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land. O God, when you led your
people out from Egypt, when you marched through the dry wasteland, the earth
trembled, and the heavens poured down rain before you, the God of Sinai, before
God, the God of Israel. ... The Almighty scattered the enemy kings like
a blowing snowstorm on Mount Zalmon. The mountains of Bashan are majestic, with
many peaks stretching high into the sky. Why do you look with envy, O rugged
mountains, at Mount Zion, where God has chosen to live, where the LORD
himself will live forever? Surrounded by unnumbered thousands of chariots, the
Lord came from Mount Sinai into his sanctuary. When you ascended to the
heights, you led a crowd of captives. You received gifts from the people, even
from those who rebelled against you. Now the LORD God will live among us
there. Praise the Lord; praise God our savior! For each day he carries
us in his arms. Our God is a God who saves! The Sovereign LORD rescues
us from death. ... Sing to God, you kingdoms of the earth. Sing praises to the
Lord. Sing to the one who rides across the ancient heavens, his mighty voice
thundering from the sky. Tell everyone about God's power. His majesty shines
down on Israel; his strength is mighty in the heavens. God is awesome in his
sanctuary. The God of Israel gives power and strength to his people. Praise be
to God! Psalm 68:1-6, 14-29, 32-35
(This is portions of the Psalm. Read all of Psalm 68 for yourself.) (Underlined
for emphasis of the Lord or Lord God.)
Meditate. Can you sing as you meditate?
Our God is a God of many names. He revealed to Moses that He is Yahweh. To Abraham, Isaac and Jacob He was El-Shaddai – God Almighty (see Genesis 17). Other names of God include:

As you read through Psalm 68
note all the times that you see the “Lord” or “God.” In the study notes of my
Bible, it notes the Hebrew translation of those names as:
Verse 1 – Elohin
V. 4 - Yahweh
V. 14 – Shaddai
V. 16 - Yahweh
V. 18 – Yah Elohin
V. 19 – Adonai
V. 20 – Yahweh Adonai
David reverently expressed
praise for our Lord God. It is possible that this is the hymn of praise that
David and others sang as they moved the Ark from the house of Obed-edom to
Jerusalem (see 1 Chronicles 15:25-16:1).
I almost laughed out loud when David compared God’s enemies to wax which melted in a fire. What a great visual. Can’t you see the wax just melting down to a pool of shiny liquid? Yes. God is powerful. He can treat His enemies however He wants—even like wax.
At any rate, like David we can continually praise the Lord our God. Sing praises to Him and tell everyone about Him. He is worthy of our adoration, worship, and honor. One day we will see Him riding a great white horse riding through the clouds. What a glorious day that will be. Will you be just watching…or will you be taken up to join Jesus? The choice is yours. I hope you chose Jesus as your Savior and join us serving Him day by day in eternity. Repent. Call upon the name of Jesus and be saved. Tell everyone about God's power!
Verse of Salvation ~ I pray that your love will overflow
more and more, and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and
understanding. For I want you to understand what really matters, so that you
may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ's return. May you
always be filled with the fruit of your salvation—the righteous character
produced in your life by Jesus Christ—for this will bring much glory and praise
to God. Philippians 1:9-11
Memory Verse of the Week ~ Jesus Christ is the same
yesterday, today, and forever. Hebrews 13:8
Friday’s Feast at the King’s Table
Tomato Salsa is the best homemade. I used the recipe that
was developed, tested, and publicized by the Pacific Northwest Extension
service. This recipe, and other salsa recipes, are found in the brochure “SLSA
RECIPES for CANNING” by Val Hillers and Richard Dougherty, PNW0395. It is
available on line at pnw0395.pdf
(wsu.edu). It is important to note that changes to the recipe should not be
made or the salsa could be unsafe.
Tomato Salsa
7
quarts peeled, cored, chopped roma or paste tomatoes. Note: slicing tomatoes
will require a longer cooking time to achieve the desired consistency.
4 cups
seeded chopped long green chilis, broiled (6-8 minutes) and remove the tough
skins
3 cups
chopped onions
½ cup
seeded, finely chopped jalapeno peppers (wear gloves when handling.)
6
cloves garlic finely chopped or grated
2 cups
bottled lemon or lime juice
2 Tbsp
salt
1 Tbsp
black pepper
2 Tbsp
ground cumin
3 Tbsp
oregano leaves
2 Tbsp
fresh cilantro, chopped
Combine all ingredients except cumin, oregano and cilantro
in a large pot and bring to a boil, stiring frequently. Then reduce the heat
and simmer 10 minutes. Add spices and simmer for another 20 minutes, stirring
occasionally. Ladle hot into sterilized (still warm) pint jars, leaving ½ inch
headspace. Add lids and rings and process in a boiling water canner 15 minutes
at 0-1,000 feet altitude; 29 minutes at 1,001-6,000 feet; or 25 minutes above
6,000 feet.
Yields: 16-18 pints.
