And
we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who
love God and are called according to his purpose for them.
Romans 8:28
Sunflowers are blooming. God causes everything to work together. The sun, water, nutrients...all for the good of the flower...and us. |
God causes everything to work together…. God has given us free choice—yet He causes. Do you struggle with that? I
sometimes do—but like Paul I long to do things right—to please God.
I don't really understand myself, for I want to do
what is right, but I don't do it. Instead, I do what I hate. Romans 7:15
In my search
today I found a couple of great verses that are applicable to God’s involvement
in the lives of righteous people—those doing good and living the way He
approves.
For the LORD God is our sun and our shield. He gives
us grace and glory. The LORD will withhold no good thing from those who do what
is right. Psalm 84:11
The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right,
and his ears are open to their prayers. But the Lord turns his face against
those who do evil. 1 Peter 3:12
Peter was
telling us that us that God hears the prayers of those who live righteously. What
great motivation for us to live right. His ears are open—God hears our prayers.
What a magnificent promise. That is the plea of people through the ages. Hear
my prayer, Lord! David said it over and over in the book of Psalms.
Hear my prayer, O LORD; listen to my plea! Answer me
because you are faithful and righteous. Psalm 143:1
Prayer
~ Lord God—I humbly bow my head and my spirit to You—for You are an awesome
God, worthy of all my admiration and respect. You cause everything to work
together for the good of those who love You and are called according to Your
purpose. Thank you for hearing my prayers.

Friday’s
Feast at the King’s Table
It’s hot and dry. Time for some cool and
refreshing iced tea. I just made some with fresh peppermint leaves. Brew a strong tea—peppermint or some other
refreshing tea such as peach or lemon-ginger. Fill a tall glass with ice and
pour the tea over the ice. Find a quiet spot in the shade or create a peaceful
retreat within your home and enjoy a cool glass of iced tea as you meditate on
God’s word today.
