I love this…that we don’t know what God
looks like, but possibly, He has wing. Ah.
Jesus spoke of the hen gathering her chicks…O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills
the prophets and stones God's messengers! How often I have wanted to gather
your children together as a hen protects her chicks beneath her wings, but you
wouldn't let me. Matthew 23:37. Jesus
saw Himself like the hen—with wings and feathers—offering protection.
Protection like the promises that are mentioned in Psalm 91. That “sheltering”
under His wings is such security—knowing that the most powerful being ever—God Himself—is
proving protection. This Psalm describes God as our refuge and place of safety.
It goes on to say that the protection God provides is over our health and
safety, too…IF we make the Lord our refuge. Do you seek protection with Him?
Do not be afraid of the terrors of the
night, nor the arrow that flies in the day. Do not dread the disease that
stalks in darkness, nor the disaster that strikes at midday. Though a thousand
fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will
not touch you. ... If you make the LORD your refuge, if you make the Most High
your shelter, no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your home. For
He will order His angels to protect you wherever you go. Psalm 91:5-7, 9-11.
I feel secure knowing that my God cares
about me…and wants to protect me—and my family, friends and neighbors.
Prayer
~ Thank You, Lord God, for drawing us to Your side and covering us with Your
wings. We feel secure knowing that You love us enough to care for and about us
and all that happens in our lives. Even though Job suffered, You cared about
him. Likewise, if we should suffer…we know that in spite of pain and
disappointment, You do care about and love us. For that we give You praise.
