The Sweet Aroma of a Promise

 And the LORD was pleased with the aroma of the sacrifice and said to Himself, "I will never again curse the ground because of the human race, even though everything they think or imagine is bent toward evil from childhood. I will never again destroy all living things." Genesis 8:21

Pleasing aroma of sacrifice to the Lord. God likes a pleasant smell wafting up to Him in Heaven.

Let the whole world bless our God and loudly sing His praises. Our lives are in His hands, and He keeps our feet from stumbling. ... Now I come to your Temple with burnt offerings to fulfill the vows I made to you—yes, the sacred vows that I made when I was in deep trouble. That is why I am sacrificing burnt offerings to you—the best of my rams as a pleasing aroma, and a sacrifice of bulls and male goats. Psalm 66:8-9, 13-15.

Noah offered a sacrifice. A sacrifice of Thanksgiving that God had spared their lives. God responded with I will—His promise that He would never again destroy all living things. So far…so good. Mankind seems to have gone into a downward spiral right back to the corrupt and evil level of mankind at Noah’s time. How much time do we have left? Mankind deserves judgment and it will happen. No sacrifice to God with the intent of seeking forgiveness or offering thanksgiving. No sweet aroma. God has promised—and most of mankind has turned their back on God. Where do you stand with the Lord? 

Prayer ~ Lord God, thank you for saving Noah, his family and all those wonderful animals. May we live a life filled with love, following the Your example, Christ, because You loved us and offered Yourself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God. Ephesians 5:2.
