Promise Unfulfilled

And the LORD said, "I will wipe this human race I have created from the face of the earth. Yes, and I will destroy every living thing—all the people, the large animals, the small animals that scurry along the ground, and even the birds of the sky. I am sorry I ever made them." Genesis 6:7

I am sorry. God said…I will, but He didn’t. He didn’t wipe out all the people and animals. He saw that Noah was good—so He saved him and his family in the ark. A well-known story—all around the world. The family in the great ship along with all the animals. Movies have even been made about that fateful trip. God is merciful.
Noah's Ark built in the Netherlands

God expects perfection. His creation was initially perfect. With each day of creation…God saw that it was good. Genesis 1:10, 12, 18, 21, 25. He expects perfection. When mankind was hopeless and wicked beyond belief, God wanted to destroy everyone and everything until He looked down and saw the goodness in His servant Noah. A willing worker to build a huge ark. Imagine how his neighbors laughed at him…until it started to rain. Do you think that they were clambering at the door to get in as the waters rose? God shed a tear…and the earth was covered with water. To me that is how huge God is—His tear of sadness over the vileness of His creation created the flood. Noah was good…but poor choices along the way have led to a world that is as shameful now as it was in Noah’s day. Will God keep His promise? We can trust Him. Stayed tuned for the rest of the story about Noah and his family.

Prayer ~ Lord God, You were sorry that You created mankind before You saw the goodness in Noah. May You find that same goodness in those who love You around the world today. No ark is needed—since Jesus has provided for our salvation.
