I’m sure you’ve heard the phrase “get your
mind out of the gutter?” That is not
where you want your mind to be when Christ returns! I keep coming back to one
of my favorite verses. And now, dear
brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and
honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things
that are excellent and worthy of praise. Philippians 4:8 NLT. Think about
good stuff—honest things—things that God would want you to think about. Does
the Spirit of God live in You? Do you want to have pure thoughts? I’ve found
that the best thing to do if I find my mind wandering down the wrong path of
thought is to focus on scripture…like the Philippians 4:8 passage, or Jesus
instructions in Matthew 22:37 NLT…You
must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your
mind. There is that “mind” thing again. If you are loving God with all your
mind, then it won’t be in the gutter. The choice is yours. Where is your mind
going today?
Prayer
~ Holy Spirit, help me to keep my mind on You…to keep my thoughts pure and
acceptable, not only just in case today is the Day of the Lord…but just because
it is the right and honorable thing to do…and it does feel good to please You.
