Timid or Bold – Where Do You Stand?

For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline.  2 Timothy 1:7

God is love.  We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. 1 John 4:16.

I’m kind of a reserved person—an introvert. God didn’t make me timid—just reserved. I’ve learned to get outside of my comfort zone around strangers…and not be shy. The power of the Holy Spirit—with His love—brings out the gift of encouragement in me—to encourage others.  It is surprising how many people are “shy” around others. Since my husband was in the Air Force for twenty years we had to attend a lot of military functions and parties where we socialized with others who were required to be there, too. We were all in the same boat—a boat named “shy.” I always gravitated to visiting with the same people I knew…but when they rotated to a new base…I had to get outside my comfort zone and find others with whom to socialize. Finding a common ground was key. For me it is God. But God or religion, like politics, is a hard subject to discuss with just anyone. That’s where I need God’s boldness. How about you? On a scale of 1 to 10 where do you stand between Timid 1…..and Bold 10?

Prayer ~ Holy Spirit, take away any spirit of timidity. Fill me with Your boldness that I would speak the truth—about Jesus who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. May Your Spirit of love flow through me to others that they would know Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
