It’s time to grow up. To apply what we’ve
learned spiritually and become mature Christians. If we’re just being spoon-fed…only
listening to the sermons on Sunday and not getting into and really studying the
meat of God’s Word—on other days of the week, then shame on us. Grow Up! Don’t
let your old sinful nature dictate what you think, say and do. Take responsibility
for your actions and apply what you have learned from studying God’s Word. What
do you want to be doing when Christ returns—if it is in your lifetime? Do you
want to know His Word…to have memorized some of it? Do you want to have led at
least one person…or maybe a hundred people to the Lord? Or would you rather
know the baseball statistics for all the American teams, be able to discuss the
latest episode of your favorite TV programs, or chat about the marital dramas of
Hollywood actors as noted in the tabloids? I’m sure that for me and my
household…we’d rather know the stories, parables, and application of the
Biblical truths. Even my six year old grandson would rather read Biblical
stories, digging into the solid food of the Word than discuss baseball scores.
But he does enjoy a good cartoon or animated children’s adventure show,
especially about firemen, now and then!
How about you? Do you want to be controlled
by your old sinful nature or can you apply spiritual guidance to your life?
Prayer
~ Holy Spirit, help me to dig into God’s Word in a new and deeper way—giving me
new insights and application of spiritual matters.
