The Holy Spirit LEFT king Saul because he turned his back on God. When something
leaves and there is empty space…beware. Something worse may fill that void. It
appears that is what happened to Saul. An evil spirit came to terrorize him. Without
God in his life there was no protection against the evil forces. We live in a
physical and a spiritual realm. For our
struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the
powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces
of wickedness in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:12. Like Saul, we fight a spiritual battle. Take care lest we get
full of ourselves and turn our back on God. How do you stand with God today?
Prayer
~ Holy Spirit, help me, my family and friends to consistently put on our
spiritual armor…so that we will be able to resist the enemy in the time of
evil. Then after the battle we will still be standing firm. Help us to stand our
ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God's righteousness.
For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that we will be
fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to
stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as our helmet, and take
the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. May we pray in the Spirit—in
You—at all times and on every occasion. We’ll stay alert and be persistent in our
prayers for all believers everywhere. Give us the right words so we can boldly
explain God's mysterious plan that the Good News is for Jews and Gentiles
alike. Ephesians 6:13-19 NLT.
