David wrote this while hiding from Saul—and
being revealed by the treacherous Ziphites. (See 1 Samuel 23.) He was asking
God—the Holy Spirit—to save him from his enemies. A little later God’s promise
is shown in 2 Samuel 5 when David becomes king over Israel. God certainly did
bless David, as He rescued him from his enemies—before and after he became
king.
Who are your enemies? I’ve decided that I
am my own worst enemy…my attitude and selfish desires—dare I say rebellious—to have
my own time…to do my own will—have set me up to be a victim of a lack of time.
Time to do God’s work—to serve and encourage other.
Prayer
~ Holy Spirit—please continue to help me surrender my attitude towards others
and my selfish desires that I would be in step with Your will…walking down Your
path. I know there will be troubles in this world…but I know that You have
promised to be with us…to never leave us or forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:6,8). Help
me, my family, friends and neighbors to be strong and courageous as we face the
circumstances of life. May we all rejoice in knowing You and Your
lovingkindness.
