They Believed

Now they have come to know that everything You have given Me is from You; for the words which You gave Me I have given to them; and they received them and truly understood that I came forth from You, and they believed that You sent Me. John 17:7-8  

They believed. That was a big step for the disciples to take. Most of us take the Bible for granted. It is a book that was written more than a couple of thousand years ago and neatly compiled for us to read. The disciples didn’t have that advantage. The scripture was on scrolls stored in special vestiges in the Jewish synagogues. Not everyone had a copy sitting on a shelf in their home. Yet as Jesus taught the disciples, they believed. What does it take for someone to “believe” today? 

RSVP: Jesus is telling us that He was sent to earth by God the Father…and that what He spoke was what the Heavenly Father wanted Him to say. Are you listening to His words today? How will you respond to what you hear? 

Prayer ~ Heaven Father, thank you for giving us Your Son, Your Words, and helping us to understand how much You love us.
