Jesus had a
message that wasn’t encouraging to His disciples. He was going away…and it wasn’t
within walking distance so they couldn’t go with Him. Some things that we hear
about—like someone with a terminal condition—we just feel that we can bear that
news. Someone we love is going away, forever. But in Jesus case, His disciples
would see Him again. Those of us, who believe in Him, will see Him. Face to
face. What a joy that will be. It makes up for the thought of being told that
there is something He has to tell us that it would be just too much of a burden
to bear. We have hope. Love…bears all
things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 1
Corinthians 13:7. We know the end of
the story…so we can bear that burden of knowledge. Through Christ’s strength we can do all things…(Philippians 4:13). Watch
where and how you walk. But this is what
I commanded them, saying, 'Obey My voice, and I will be your God, and you will
be My people; and you will walk in all the way which I command you, that it may
be well with you.' Jeremiah 7:23. How are you walking? Are you filled with
hope and love?
RSVP: Jesus is inviting us today to listen to Him once
more and to have hope for even the things that we can’t bear. How will you
respond to Him?
Prayer ~ Dear Jesus, in You I have hope…and
encouragement that I can bear all things, believe all things, hope in all
things, and endure all things. (1 Corinthians 13:7). I trust in You.
