The Spirit of
Truth, The Comforter, The Helper, the Eternal Spirit, The Spirit, the Spirit of
knowledge, the Spirit of wisdom, the Spirit of prophecy, The Holy Ghost… there
are at least 33 names for the Holy Spirit. Here Jesus is calling Him the Spirit
of Truth—for He will guide you into all the truth. He is a Guide. He is God. He
is part of the Trinity—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Without Him the Godhead
would not be complete. Jesus had to go to Heaven in order for the Holy Spirit
to come down and fill each of us. Fill us. The Holy Spirit came on the day of
Pentecost. And they were all filled with
the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit was giving
them utterance. Acts 2:4. But that filling wasn’t just for one day…for just
a thousand people. The Holy Spirit
was given to mankind for all generations forever, to dwell within us—that is His
purpose. Or do you think that the
Scripture speaks to no purpose: "He jealously desires the Spirit which He
has made to dwell in us"? James 4:5.
And the disciples were continually filled
with joy and with the Holy Spirit. Acts 13:52. So like the disciples we
need to be filled with joy and the Holy Spirit. If you don’t have Him, just ask
God the Father to give you the Holy Spirit—to cleanse your heart, if necessary,
and then fill your heart fresh with His love and joy.
RSVP: Jesus is offering you the Holy Spirit to dwell—to live—within
your heart. How will you respond to Him today?
Prayer ~ Come into my heart…Create in me a clean
heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. ... Restore to me the joy
of Your salvation and sustain me with a willing spirit….Psalms 51:10, 12. Fill
me with a fresh breath of the Holy Spirit—that I would do and say pleasing
things that would bring You glory and honor.
