Righteous Conviction

But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you. And He, when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment; concerning sin, because they do not believe in Me; and concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father and you no longer see Me; and concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged. John 16:7-11

Jesus is always telling the truth…and He knows how much we need the Helper, the Holy Spirit. He could only be in one place at one time. The Holy Spirit is everywhere—within all believers. Just as the Holy Spirit “convicts” the world including Christian of sin, He convicts us of righteousness…right living. I love to stand back and watch Christian greet each other with warm smiles, handshakes, hugs…and as I recently experienced in Portugal, kisses on each cheek. It just warms my heart—fills me with joy—to see people showing and sharing their love. Jesus told His disciples over and over, love one another. It was a command, not a suggestion. But love has to come from the heart in order to be sincerely felt. Love is the key to life—without it judgment would be severe. It will be disappointing for those who don’t know Jesus, the Father, or the Holy Spirit—who don’t know love. They will be caste away from the Father for eternity. Jesus spoke about people who are pure in heart, or righteous, in His Sermon on the Mount…Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. Matthew 5:8. We will be judged as it is written in Romans 14:12, each one will have to give an account of himself to God. How do you feel about that? Are you ready?

RSVP: Jesus was preparing His disciples for His departure from this earth…and for the coming of the Holy Spirit, who would convict people of sin and righteousness. How will you respond to Jesus about this message?

Prayer ~ Jesus, I need the Holy Spirit to help me live a life worthy of You. Without some encouraging support I’m afraid that I will fail miserably in judgment. Help me to share and show Your love to others that they would also be encouraged to live a righteous life…holy unto You.
