Shout for Joy!

Prayer – Lord, please accept the joyful noise that I make as an offering of worship to You. I am shouting for joy to honor You.

Be glad in the LORD and rejoice, you righteous; And shout for joy, all you upright in heart! Psalm 32:11

Meditate. Consider God’s joy.

Joy is a reoccurring theme in scripture. Joy can be felt at times of happiness or even during mourning or sorrow. It has been described as inexplicable. Here are a few verses that deal with joy.

But let all those rejoice who put their trust in You; Let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them; Let those also who love Your name Be joyful in You. Psalm 5:11 NKJV

Make a joyful noise to the Lord!

Sing to Him a new song; Play skillfully with a shout of joy. Psalm 33:3 NKJV

Let them shout for joy and be glad, Who favor my righteous cause; And let them say continually, Let the LORD be magnified, Who has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant. Psalm 35:27 NKJV

The pastures are clothed with flocks; The valleys also are covered with grain; They shout for joy, they also sing. Psalm 65:13 NKJV

Let Your priests be clothed with righteousness, And let Your saints shout for joy. Psalm 132:9

Music, singing and playing stringed instruments are often related to joy.

Rejoice in the LORD, O you righteous! For praise from the upright is beautiful. ... Sing to Him a new song; Play skillfully with a shout of joy. For the word of the LORD is right, And all His work is done in truth. He loves righteousness and justice; The earth is full of the goodness of the LORD. Psalm 33:1, 3-5 NKJV

God made us and blessed us with the desire and ability…or at least some of us…to sing and make music to honor Him. If you cannot carry a tune in a bucket—like me, pretty much—then at least you can enjoy the joyful noise that others make. And we can all seek to please the Lord by enjoying the joyful noise of others and waiting on the Lord. He gives us hope.

Our soul waits for the LORD; He is our help and our shield. For our heart shall rejoice in Him, Because we have trusted in His holy name. Let Your mercy, O LORD, be upon us, Just as we hope in You. Psalm 33:20-22 NKJV

We are blessed to know God the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit—and to have an opportunity to express our love for Him—and others. Sing! Be glad in the LORD and rejoice. Shout for joy.

Verse of Salvation ~ For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvations. Romans 10:10 NKJV
