Prayer
– Abba Father, we are privileged
to be part of Your family. Thank you that we can be holy—because of Jesus’
sacrifice…because You are holy.
But now you must be
holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy. For the
Scriptures say, "You must be holy because I am holy." 1 Peter 1:15-16 NLT
Meditate. Consider God’s choices in
scripture.
God chose you. God has
made a lot of choices. He chose to have His Son, Jesus, be the sacrifice for
our sin—to allow us to be holy, yet Peter tells us that God has no favorites.
And remember that the heavenly Father to whom you pray has no
favorites. He will judge or reward you according to what you do. So you must
live in reverent fear of him during your time as "foreigners in the
land." For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life
you inherited from your ancestors. And the ransom he paid was not mere gold or
silver. It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of
God. God chose him as your ransom long before the world began,
but he has now revealed him to you in these last days. Through Christ you have
come to trust in God. And you have placed your faith and hope in God because he
raised Christ from the dead and gave him great glory. You were cleansed from
your sins when you obeyed the truth, so now you must show sincere love to each
other as brothers and sisters. Love each other deeply with all your heart. For
you have been born again, but not to a life that will quickly end. Your new
life will last forever because it comes from the eternal, living word of
God. 1 Peter 1:17-23 NLT (Underlined for emphasis.)The Sacrificial Lamb
Chosen to take away your sin and mine.
We have been cleansed by the blood of Jesus.
Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Make allowance for each other's faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony. And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful. Colossians 3:12-15 NLT (Underlined for emphasis.)
The Hebrew people…the
Israelites…were originally God’s chosen people and they still are, just as when
Moses told them before they went into the Promised Land.
For you are a holy
people, who belong to the LORD your God. Of all the people on earth, the LORD
your God has chosen you to be his own special treasure.
"The LORD did not set his heart on you and choose you because you were
more numerous than other nations, for you were the smallest of all nations!
Rather, it was simply that the LORD loves you, and he was keeping the oath he
had sworn to your ancestors. That is why the LORD rescued you with such a
strong hand from your slavery and from the oppressive hand of Pharaoh, king of
Egypt. Understand, therefore, that the LORD your God is indeed God. He is the
faithful God who keeps his covenant for a thousand generations and lavishes his
unfailing love on those who love him and obey his commands. Deuteronomy 7:6-9 NLT
As believers in Jesus
Christ, we are adopted into God’s family. It doesn’t matter if we are Jewish or
Gentile. We are part of the family of God.
For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. So
you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you
received God's Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him,
"Abba, Father." Romans 8:14-15 NLT
For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same
[Lord] is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him…. Romans 10:12 NASB
Holy, Holy, Holy. Lord
God Almighty. You are chosen to be part of His forever family…His adopted
children. Chosen in love. Love for an eternity.
Verses
of Salvation ~ In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined
according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel
of His will, that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His
glory. In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel
of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy
Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption
of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory. Ephesians 1:11-14 NKJV
