Jesus shared His wisdom... at the synagogue in Capernaum. Where do you choose to share His wisdom? |
Meditate and choose to focus on God’s grace.
How much of what you do is a habit and not an intentional
choice of the moment?
So much of what we do is routine. Think of your job—how you
routinely do particular tasks the same way following a pattern that is set by
you to please your supervisor or fit in with your work team. Those tasks may
not be ones that you want to alter. This is an area that you may want to
consider doing things as if doing them for the Lord—as if you are a bondservant
in your job.
Bondservants, obey
in all things your masters according to the flesh, not with eyeservice, as
men-pleasers, but in sincerity of heart, fearing God. And whatever you do, do
it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will
receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ. Colossians
3:22-24 NKJV
Consider other tasks that you do. Are you doing them out of
habit? Are you doing them in the best way possible or just getting the job done?
When you take out the trash is the wastebasket clean or just emptied? Do you
have a habit of reading the Bible every day? If and when you read God’s word, are you just
reading the words to get through it…or are you actually studying what God is
saying and asking yourself how you can apply it to your life? Jesus honors God
the Father. We are to honor Jesus. How do you do that? Is it by choice…or by
habit? Is just going to church on Sunday a habit or a choice? Do you help
others by taking food to the food bank, clothes or household items to a thrift
shop that is part of an outreach ministry, or by giving a bottle of water or a
meal to a homeless person? Are those choices or are you creating a habit that
has become routine? This may not be about “habits,” but Paul gives us good
advice on making Godly choices.
Let love be without
hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good. Be kindly affectionate to
one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another; not
lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope,
patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer; distributing to the
needs of the saints, given to hospitality. Romans 12:9-13 NKJV
Our choices may become habits…so choose wisely. Choose
life.
Verse of Salvation ~ In this you greatly rejoice, though
now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials,
that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that
perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory
at the revelation of Jesus Christ, whom having not seen you love. Though now
you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full
of glory, receiving the end of your faith--the salvation of your souls. 1
