Prayers for Healing and Comfort

I spent a day of fasting and prayer on Friday—for my sweet granddaughter, Amelia. Here’s my prayers and the FaceBook posts along the day. 

From my daughter, Lisa: Our prayer is for healing. Amelia has gastroparesis, paralysis of the stomach. In two weeks on Feb 14 Amelia will be having surgery for a GJ tube (stomach to intestine) feeding tube put in. Amelia isn’t able to eat or drink anything by mouth at this point. Please join us in prayers for healing and comfort.

For Amelia I (Mickey) am doing a day of Prayer and Fasting Friday February 2, 6 AM - 5 P PT (9 AM to 8 PM ET). I am trusting and believing that the Lord will perform a miracle. Already she’s had some painless moments after her Botox treatment last Wednesday. God is going before her in dealing with all her pain. Praise the Lord! I asked others to join me in prayer on Friday…as well as on Feb 14…or any day, any time. Blessings on you as you love God and love others as yourself! Claim these promises for yourself or others you know who are dealing with serious health issues and need prayer.

Friday 7 AM - Read Proverbs 3 this morning. Praying scripture….

My child, never forget the things I have taught you.

Store my commands in your heart. If you do this, you will live many years, and your life will be satisfying. …Trust in the LORD with all your heart;

do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do and he will show you which path to take. Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom. Instead, fear the LORD and turn away from evil. Then you will have healing for your body and strength for your bones. Proverbs 3:1-2, 5-8

We trust You, Lord, and we don’t focus on our own understanding—but ask for Your will and guidance. You are the source of all wisdom and we intentionally turn to You—knowing You are all powerful. We claim this promise of healing for Amelia’s body—and strength in her very bones. We praise you and thank you! We love You, Jesus—and we know that You love us. Please wrap Your arms around Amelia—and Lisa & Kim and Zander & Liberty now too—that they would feel your love and the healing touch You are providing! The peace of satisfying life. Healing and comfort! Amen.

Friday 8 AM - Praying scripture today…One example. Jesus healing a man with a horrible disfiguring and dreaded disease…leprosy.

 In one of the villages, Jesus met a man with an advanced case of leprosy. When the man saw Jesus, he bowed with his face to the ground, begging to be healed. “Lord,” he said, “if you are willing, you can heal me and make me clean.” Jesus reached out and touched him. “I am willing,” he said. “Be healed!” And instantly the leprosy disappeared. Then Jesus instructed him not to tell anyone what had happened. He said, “Go to the priest and let him examine you. Take along the offering required in the law of Moses for those who have been healed of leprosy. This will be a public testimony that you have been cleansed. But despite Jesus’ instructions, the report of his power spread even faster, and vast crowds came to hear him preach and to be healed of their diseases. But Jesus often withdrew to the wilderness for prayer. Luke 5:12-16

 But He gives more grace. James 4:6 (NKJV)

 Therefore He says:“God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.” (From Proverbs 3:34)

The leper was humble—but believed Jesus could heal him. Jesus was willing! And healed the man! Grace…unmerited favor.

Lord, we humbly come before You—like the leper—pleading for Your healing for Amelia—for her stomach…and for all the pain throughout her body. Thank you, Jesus for hearing our prayers and for the gracious answer that we trust You are providing. We praise You, Jesus, our Lord and our Savior! Amen.

 

Friday 9 AM Grace—unmerited favor. Finding favor with God…Back to Proverbs 3.

Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. Proverbs 3:3-4 NIV

 Faith — such an important part. We have to believe in God—and I’m so glad…and blessed…that we all do!

 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. Hebrews 11:6

 We cannot manipulate God. We can only plead with Him for mercy…

I cry aloud to the LORD; I lift up my voice to the LORD for mercy. I pour out before him my complaint; before him I tell my trouble. When my spirit grows faint within me, it is you who watch over my way. In the path where I walk people have hidden a snare for me. Look and see, there is no one at my right hand; no one is concerned for me. I have no refuge; no one cares for my life. I cry to you, LORD; I say, “You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living.” Listen to my cry, for I am in desperate need; rescue me from those who pursue me, for they are too strong for me. Set me free from my prison, that I may praise your name. Then the righteous will gather about me because of your goodness to me. Psalm 142:1-7 NIV

The enemy is sickness or disease—and the prison is pain, fatigue and illness.

Lord, please rescue Amelia from this gastroparesis. We humbly ask that You would restore her health. You created her so beautifully—our bodies are amazing. Please let her stomach function the way You designed and intended to work! Thank you for hearing our prayers. Amen.

Friday 10 AM PT – 1 PM ET This afternoon—read Ephesians 1 & 2

But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:4-10

God has created us for a purpose—I’m believing that He has something wonderful for You to do for Him—some good work. Just like it says in verse 10.

So…Lord, we ask for Your mercy and touch of healing and comfort for Amelia so that she may serve You in some miraculous way! Bless her doctors, too, giving them wisdom, insight and understanding. Please give her parents and her family Your strength, peace, comfort and hope as they go down this path together with You and with her. Thank you—for love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness and self-control with which You are so richly covering them. Amen.

Friday 11 AM – We’re part of a big family! The Family of God! Family cares about each other—trusts and hopes. We know God is love. (1 John 4:8) Such a great feeling to know God has adopted us into His family.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will—to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and understanding, he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment—to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ. In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, in order that we, who were the first to put our hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory. Ephesians 1:3-12

 Lord…we put our hope in You. Amen.

Friday – Noon - God has promised to take care of us—to meet our needs. Paul was content with what God provided. Are we?

I rejoiced greatly in the Lord that at last you renewed your concern for me. Indeed, you were concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it. I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength. Yet it was good of you to share in my troubles. ….And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. To our God and Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen. Philippians 4:10-14, 19-20 NIV

Lord, please continue to work not only Your healing touch, but also an ongoing abundance of strength for her…and her family. We praise You and thank you for your blessings! Amen.

Friday 1 PM - Don’t give up. Stand firm.

So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold fast to the teachings we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter. May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word. 2 Thessalonians 2:15-17

Lord, please give Amelia the strength to endure—and the hope of the healing. And to us all—we praise You, Lord, and thank you for the encouragement as we see You working in Amelia life. Amen.

Friday 2 PM – Prayer is important and powerful…never too much prayer as we communicate our hopes and desires to God.

Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. James 5:13-16 NIV

 Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be. Matthew 6:21 NLT

 Trust in the LORD, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass. Psalm 37:3-5

Lord, forgive me for anything or any way that I have offended you. I confess that my attitude isn’t always pleasant—thus not honoring You. You are pure and worthy of honor and glory. Please anoint Amelia with Your healing oil—with the Holy Spirit. Give her the revitalized health for which we are all asking from You. Once again claiming a promise…that You will give us the desires of our hearts. We are trusting You to raise Amelia up—and prayerfully giving You the thanks that You deserve. All glory and honor to You, Jesus, to the Holy Spirit, and to God the Father. Amen. 

Friday 3 PM - Keep being joyful, pray and give thanks—it is important to be grateful.

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice. Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Philippians 4:4-8


Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. 1Thessalonians 5:16-18

Lord—we rejoice in Your love and righteousness. You are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent and certainly worthy of praise and thanksgiving. Thank you once again for hearing our prayer—pleading for healing and comfort for our dear Amelia. We trust in Your answers. Amen.

Friday 4 PM - Hope & Trust

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13 (NIV)

Holy Spirit—come fill us with Your love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Without You…we are nothing…just a lump of clay. We hope and trust that You hear our prayers—and with Your mercy and grace will heal, comfort and strengthen Amelia. Joyfully—we adore You. Thank you. Amen.

 Friday 5 PM - Continuing to give thanks.

Praise the LORD. Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever. Who can proclaim the mighty acts of the LORD or fully declare his praise? Psalm 106:1-2 NIV

He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us again. On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us, as you help us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the gracious favor granted us in answer to the prayers of many. 2 Corinthians 1:10-11

 

Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen . Hebrews 13:20-21

God is good—so good. All the time. He has promised that He will never leave us or forsake us. I am so grateful for that! I praise the Lord for all those who have joined us in prayers for Amelia today…and who wait expectantly for Christ’s response. May He make her complete…and let her stomach work again—giving her strength and comfort. We praise You, Jesus, Heavenly Father, and Holy Spirit, for hearing our prayers. We are trusting You…always and forever. Hope, healing, health, and strength. We love you, Lord God, and we serve You continually in the name of our blessed Savior, Jesus. Amen.

That’s it. Now I’ll continue to pray…without ceasing…1 Thessalonians 5:17. And we'll wait patiently for the Lord’s answer.
