Who Am I To Be Worthy of His Persistent, Enduring Love?

Prayer – Lord God, You are awesome—and I am just like a grain of sand on the beach. But wait, I am created in Your image…and You have promised to never leave me. I feel protected by Your love and honored to be saved by You. Saved from the evil of this world and the doom of the lake of fire for those who do not believe. Thank you. I praise You and Your very name. I worship You.

A psalm of David.

I give you thanks, O LORD, with all my heart; I will sing your praises before the gods. I bow before your holy Temple as I worship. I praise your name for your unfailing love and faithfulness; for your promises are backed by all the honor of your name. As soon as I pray, you answer me; you encourage me by giving me strength. Every king in all the earth will thank you, LORD, for all of them will hear your words. Yes, they will sing about the LORD's ways, for the glory of the LORD is very great. Though the LORD is great, he cares for the humble, but he keeps his distance from the proud. Though I am surrounded by troubles, you will protect me from the anger of my enemies. You reach out your hand, and the power of your right hand saves me. The LORD will work out his plans for my life—for your faithful love, O LORD, endures forever. Don't abandon me, for you made me. Psalm 138:1-8 (Underlined for emphasis.)

Meditate. God’s faithful love endures forever.

David receives an answer each time he prays to the Lord, giving thanks, praising, and worshipping Him. Do we do the same? Are you a Sunday only worshipper—or do you pray, praise, and worship the Lord daily? I do…although I will admit that I still need to be more consistent. I guess that is a good goal for next year. Maybe I should not wait until next year…but start tomorrow? Consistency is the best—look at how Jesus was devoted and consistent in His prayers to the Father. Same place...all night.

One day soon afterward Jesus went up on a mountain to pray, and he prayed to God all night. Luke 6:12

Once Jesus was in a certain place praying. As he finished, one of his disciples came to him and said, "Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples." Luke 11:1

Can you even imagine praying all night long? It takes a real devotion to pray even just a few hours.

David continues his song describing some of the qualities of the Lord. He is glorious, caring, protecting, offers salvation, plans for our future, and our creator who is loving forever. He has promised that He will never leave us—or abandon us. I am overwhelmed with the faithful love of the Lord. Who am I to be worthy of His persistent, enduring love?

Verse of Salvation ~ The message of the cross is foolish to those who are headed for destruction! But we who are being saved know it is the very power of God. As the Scriptures say, "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise and discard the intelligence of the intelligent." 1 Corinthians 1:18-19
