Are You Hiding Like David?

Prayer – Lord, show me Your truths in Your scripture today. You keep me alive…and I praise You for all that You have done for me—rescuing me from my troubles and my enemies.

A psalm of David, regarding the time the Ziphites came and said to Saul, "We know where David is hiding."

Come with great power, O God, and rescue me! Defend me with your might. Listen to my prayer, O God. Pay attention to my plea. For strangers are attacking me; violent people are trying to kill me. They care nothing for God. But God is my helper. The Lord keeps me alive! May the evil plans of my enemies be turned against them. Do as you promised and put an end to them. I will sacrifice a voluntary offering to you; I will praise your name, O LORD, for it is good. For you have rescued me from my troubles and helped me to triumph over my enemies. Psalm 54:1-7

Meditate. Consider God’s guidance in scripture. Read God’s word and listen to what He is saying.

Fall is here!
Can you believe it? This is the last day of September! Are you praising the Lord for the beautiful fall weather? I am! I love the crisp air and the changing colors of the leaves!

Are you hiding like David? David was hiding from his enemies who were plotting to kill him. We don’t have enemies like that. Do you consider that you have enemies who either through a virus scam or economic disaster threat are trying to harm us all to reduce the population or just reset the world economically and spiritually? Jesus told us to “be prepared”—be ready—and we are told several times to “not be deceived” beginning with Moses’ instructions to the Israelites.

You also must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected. Matthew 24:44

But be careful. Don't let your heart be deceived so that you turn away from the LORD and serve and worship other gods. Deuteronomy 11:16

Don’t hide—face the world and your enemies. God will give you words to say as you speak up for Him—encouraging others to be ready and not to be deceived. We have the hope of salvation through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

Verses of Salvation ~ All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation, and we have a priceless inheritance--an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay. And through your faith, God is protecting you by his power until you receive this salvation, which is ready to be revealed on the last day for all to see. So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you have to endure many trials for a little while. 1 Peter 1:3-6

Memory Verse of the Week ~ Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.  Matthew 6:33

Friday’s Feast at the King’s Table

The Lord is my shepherd…You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. Psalm 23:1, 5

Olives are harvested only once a year—but around the world at many different times. So, olive oil—the first pressing known and highly valued for its purity—extra virgin olive oil EVOO—is produced year around…somewhere. I recently had some exceptional EVOO that was from Australia. Yes. They grow olives in Australia! The climate in southeastern Australia is similar to that of Greece and early immigrants smuggled cuttings in their shirt ties and inseams of their pants, according to T. J. Robinson of The Fresh-Pressed Olive Oil Club in his Autumn 2022 newsletter.

How do you use EVOO? It is great on baked potatoes instead of butter. I found that it even makes a good hand lotion when I happened to have some extra that I spilled or just poured too much out of the bottle.

If you happen to have more than one bottle of EVOO available it is fun to do a taste test, comparing the flavors of the oils. Pour just a little of each oil individually in a small glass or dish for each person. Gently swirl around and smell it. What does that smell evoke? Is it a fruity, veggie, herbal or grassy smell? Taste the oil. Is it well balanced, peppery, bitter, have an astringent taste, or just tasty. What flavor do you discern? Dip some fresh Italian bread, cooked potatoes, vegetables, cheese, or meat into the oil. How do the flavors change or are enhanced? Enjoy tasting the EVOO along with your next meal.
