Meditate.
Who is the King of glory? The LORD, strong and mighty; the LORD, invincible in battle. Open up, ancient gates! Open up, ancient doors, and let the King of glory enter. Who is the King of glory? The LORD of Heaven's Armies—he is the King of glory. Psalm 24:8-10
The King of Glory—The LORD
of Heaven’s Armies. He is a powerful and awesome God of the Heavenly
Armies. Since angels are spiritual beings…as is our God…they are continually
fighting a spiritual war in a realm we don’t see—an unseen world. Our Father
God is invisible just as Paul wrote about this unseen world in his letters to the
churches at Colossi and Ephesus.
Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can't see—such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him. He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together. Colossians 1:15-17
A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty
power. Put on all of God's armor so that you will be able to stand firm against
all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood
enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against
mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly
places. Therefore, put on every piece of God's armor so you will be able to
resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be
standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body
armor of God's righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the
Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold
up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation
as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be
persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere. Ephesians 6:10-18
(Underlined for emphasis.)
We don’t have to do battle
ourselves with the unseen beings in this unseen world. God will have His armies
of angels fight for us. Our power is in God’s word. Remember when He was
tempted how Jesus spoke to Satan using scripture.
But Jesus told him, "No! The Scriptures say, 'People
do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of
God.'" ... Jesus responded, "The Scriptures also say, 'You must not
test the LORD your God.'" ... "Get out of here, Satan," Jesus
told him. "For the Scriptures say, 'You must worship the LORD your God and
serve only him.'" Matthew 4:4, 7, 10
We can use scripture in the same way. There is power in the word of the Lord. Will His words build your relationship with Him today?
Prayer ~ Dear Lord, help me to be strong in Your mighty power, to stay alert and to persistently pray in the Spirit for my fellow believers. We are rarely aware of the spiritual battles that are going on around us…so help us to be prepared by putting on the Armor of God
Verses of Salvation ~ Understand
this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to
speak, and slow to get angry. Human anger does not produce the righteousness
God desires. So get rid of all the filth and evil in your lives, and humbly
accept the word God has planted in your hearts, for it has the power to save
your souls. But don't just listen to God's word. You must do what it says.
Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. James 1:19-22 (Underlined for
emphasis.)
