What a Joy! Celebrate Hanukkah

Daily Advent Lectionary Readings - Saturday, December 16th
Psalm 126
Habakkuk 3:13-19
Matthew 21:28-32

A song for pilgrims ascending to Jerusalem. When the LORD brought back his exiles to Jerusalem, it was like a dream! We were filled with laughter, and we sang for joy. And the other nations said, "What amazing things the LORD has done for them." Yes, the LORD has done amazing things for us! What joy! Restore our fortunes, LORD, as streams renew the desert. Those who plant in tears will harvest with shouts of joy. They weep as they go to plant their seed, but they sing as they return with the harvest.  Psalm 126:1-6

Market in Jerusalem
What a joy! The Lord has done great things for the Jews...for all of mankind. Joy to the Jews...Joy to the World. The farm land in Israel is amazing. The diversity of the climates allows them to grow a variety of crops grow a bountiful harvest of grains and forty different fruits a well as a multitude of vegetables. Thriving in the different regions fruits that are raised include: pomegranates, bananas, dates, guavas, manages, citrus--like lemons, oranges, limes, and grapefruit--grapes, pears, apples, and cherries. The veggies cultivated there include tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, zucchini and lettuce. A total salad bowl. The streams in the desert certainly nourish the soil--as the Lord has allowed the Israelites to renew the farmland in the Promised Land. They sing for joy--the Lord has truly blessed them. Rejoice with them. This is a time for JOY--Celebrate Hanukkah. Celebrate Advent.

Prayer ~  Thank You God  for  the abundance with which You have blessed Israel--with the diverse harvest and the joy! May we all feel Your JOY during this Advent season.
