Daily Advent Lectionery Readings - Tuesday December 12th
Psalm 27Isaiah 4:2-6
Acts 11:1-18
"And as I (Peter) began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them just as He did upon us at the beginning. And I remembered the word of the Lord, how He used to say, 'John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.' Therefore if God gave to them the same gift as He gave to us also after believing in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could stand in God's way?" When they heard this, they quieted down and glorified God, saying, "Well then, God has granted to the Gentiles also the repentance that leads to life." Acts 11:15-18
Baptism in the Jordan River - Israel |
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. John 3:16-17
We can apply this "repent" and be saved to our lives today. In fact that is just what Jesus said to do....
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Matthew 28:19-20 NASB Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. Mark 16:15 (NASB) Repent and be baptized.
All the world...including Egypt, Indonesia, the Philippines, Nepal, Netherlands, Pakistan, Peru, Thailand, Spain, France, Poland, Portugal, Brazil, the Ukraine, Germany, France and Russia, as well as the United States. These are countries from which people have read this blog this month. Blessings on them all. As you read this...if you don't know Jesus as your Savior, seek Him with all your heart. As He has called us all...repent and be saved.
Prayer ~ Thank You God for loving the whole world--especially those people from various countries who have read this blog. You are an awesome God--my Lord and Savior. Thank you for forgiving me for my sins--my self-righteous thoughts and actions. During this Advent season, may You show me--as well as my readers, my family, friends, neighbors and associates--the way You would have us to live to please You in all that we think, say and do. May You be glorified.
