Daily Advent Lectionary Readings - Thursday December 21
Psalm 89:1-4, 19-262 Samuel 6:1-11
Hebrews 1:1-4
God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world. And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become as much better than the angels, as He has inherited a more excellent name than they. Hebrews 1:1-4 (NASB)
Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is above the angels--so don't let anyone tell you that Jesus is an angel. He's not. He has always been God--and will always be God. He has said...
- "I am the Alpha and the Omega--the beginning and the end," says the Lord God. "I am the one who is, who always was, and who is still to come--the Almighty One." Revelation 1:8
- Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:9-11
He is the one we can thank for purifying us--for taking away our sin--making us pure so that we can one day stand before God Almighty.
- All the nations you made will come and bow before you, Lord; they will praise your holy name. For you are great and perform wonderful deeds. You alone are God. Teach me your ways, O LORD, that I may live according to your truth! Grant me purity of heart, so that I may honor you. With all my heart I will praise you, O Lord my God. I will give glory to your name forever, for your love for me is very great. You have rescued me from the depths of death. Psalm 86:9-13

Prayer ~ Lord, Thank you for purifying us from our sins. You are awesome--King of King, Lord of Lords. May You be glorified--above angels.
