Devotion Begins at Conception

Mary responded, "Oh, how my soul praises the Lord. How my spirit rejoices in God my Savior! For He took notice of His lowly servant girl, and from now on all generations will call me blessed. For the Mighty One is holy, and He has done great things for me. He shows mercy from generation to generation to all who fear Him. His mighty arm has done tremendous things! He has scattered the proud and haughty ones. He has brought down princes from their thrones and exalted the humble. He has filled the hungry with good things and sent the rich away with empty hands. He has helped his servant Israel and remembered to be merciful. For He made this promise to our ancestors, to Abraham and his children forever." Luke 1:46-55
Fold your hands and pray little child.
Love the Lord your God.
Girls in the time of Jesus did not go to school—even Hebrew school, so it is amazing how devoted to the Lord Mary was. Her family obviously followed the Law and “talked” about the word of God as they walked along.
You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your sons (and daughters) and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up. Deuteronomy 6:5-7 NASB.
Through His mother, Mary, Jesus began His journey to the Cross. She was devoted to God—and to her son from the very beginning of His life. In her intense commitment to the Lord she recognized not only that she was blessed…but that her nation has received the promise that God made to Abraham. Merciful. Compassionate. Gracious. Kind. Generous. What a loving God we have. Do you feel that love that God gives to us all? Do you share it with others…your family, friends and neighbors? Are you devoted to God...to your children and grandchildren from the very beginning of their lives?

Prayer ~ Lord God, help me to be more loving and to teach others Your words.
