But each day the LORD pours His unfailing
love upon me, and through each night I sing His songs, praying to God who gives
me life. "O God my rock," I cry, "Why have you forgotten me? Why
must I wander around in grief, oppressed by my enemies?" Their taunts
break my bones. They scoff, "Where is this God of yours?" Why am I
discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise Him
again—my Savior and my God! Psalm 42:8-11
Lonesome Tree - Israel |
Feel that unfailing love surrounding you. This Psalm was apparently written by
a person exiled in the far north of Palestine, who wanted to return to
Jerusalem and the Temple there. He was feeling forgotten. Remember how Jesus
felt forgotten and forsaken as He hung on the Cross. His journey to the Cross
took Him from a time of continually encouraging communication with the Father…to a feeling of rejection on the
Cross. His bones were not broken—but in the process of
crucifixion the joints of His bones became loose and disjointed. Had He not
been dead when the soldiers stuck a spear into His, they would have broken His
bones.
Then the soldiers came and broke the legs of
the first and of the other who was crucified with Him. But when they came to
Jesus and saw that He was already dead, they did not break His legs. But one of
the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water
came out. John 19:32-34 NKJV.
Have you ever felt like God has forgotten
you? Has someone asked you…"Where is
this God of yours?" And what was your answer? Are you discouraged or
sad? Put your hope in God—praise Him. He is…or wants to be…your Savior and your
God. Jesus died on the Cross as a sacrifice for the sins of mankind—but each
person has to believe this concept for themselves—to establish a relationship
with God.
For God so loved the world that He gave His
only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have
everlasting life. John 3:16 NKJV
Feel His unfailing love surrounding you…and
believe. When you choose to believe, you’ll find this God of yours in what may
seem like an unusual place…your heart. If someone asks……"Where is this God of yours?" you’ll have an answer. Your
heart.
Prayer
~ Lord God, I give You my heart…give me a new heart, and put a new spirit in me.
Take out my stony, stubborn heart and give me a tender, responsive heart as you
promised in Ezekiel 36:26. I praise You, Lord, for You are my God and my
Savior.
