Plainly—This is God’s Plan

From then on Jesus began to tell His disciples plainly that it was necessary for Him to go to Jerusalem, and that He would suffer many terrible things at the hands of the elders, the leading priests, and the teachers of religious law. He would be killed, but on the third day He would be raised from the dead. Matthew 16:21

Jesus knew what was going to happen to Him. God the Father had shared His plan. Suffer, die, be raised from the dead. Sounds pretty straight forward—but incredibly painful. Jesus said… plainly that it was necessary…. Necessary. Yes. He had to suffer—to be the Passover Lamb for humankind. To take on all the sin of the world. He is awesome…knowing what He knew…and loving us all enough to do what was necessary. Necessary. What was required of Him by the Father…what was expected as an obedient Son. Necessary. For our salvation. His journey took Him to the Cross…and He tried to tell His disciples plainly that it was necessary for Him to go to Jerusalem…to the Cross. Are you listening to Jesus…telling you the same thing? It was necessary. Be thankful and humbly grateful for what Jesus did for you. I am.

Prayer – Thank You Jesus, that You were obedient and that You fulfilled Your Father’s promise to be the sacrificial lamb for mankind. Plainly, it was necessary—although it was not what I would have chosen for You…but it was God the Father’s plan and You followed it. Thank You.
