The Road to the Cross Starts Here

Then the LORD God said to the serpent, "Because you have done this, you are cursed more than all animals, domestic and wild. You will crawl on your belly, groveling in the dust as long as you live. And I will cause hostility between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring. He will strike your head, and you will strike His heel." Genesis 3:14-15

The “seed of the woman” has been interpreted to be Jesus. So here begins the battle between Satan, represented by the serpent, and Jesus. This is the beginning of the road to the cross for Jesus. God the Father is preparing to sacrifice His Son for the sin of disobedience committed by Adam and Eve by eating that forbidden fruit.

God is holy and He expects purity. Adam and Eve disobeyed, so God had to punish them…and mankind. He also is pronouncing the punishment of Satan. That “strike your head” is Satan’s defeat when Christ rose from the dead. “Striking His heal” is not a deadly blow. God protected His Son with that prediction. God’s plan is to destroy Satan and give the world salvation through His Son, Jesus.

For God loved the world so much that He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16.

The road to the cross starts with God’s plan—His plan of salvation for mankind.

Prayer ~ Thank You, Lord God, that You have a plan…for all the world. For me…my family, friends, neighbors and everyone.
