There is no other God like
our God. He is the only God. I was reminded today that Jesus called God the
Father, “Father.” We can only call God “Father” if Jesus is our Savior. Jesus
said…
I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come
to the Father except through me. John 14:6
Paul wrote to the church at
Rome about being adopted into God’s family.
So you have not received a spirit that makes you
fearful slaves. Instead, you received God's Spirit when He adopted you as His
own children. Now we call Him, "Abba, Father." Romans 8:15
Adopted. Adopted by the
greatest Dad—The Abba Father! It’s been said that people visualize God in a way
that speaks to them. My Great-grandfather was an Irishman with flaming red hair
when he was young that gave way to a stunning head of snow-white hair with pink
streaks when he was in his late eighties and I knew him. That was long before
pink hair was some kind of fashion statement. Do I visualize God as my
Great-grandfather…an Abba Father? Would we be eating Corned Beef and cabbage
together today?
However you visualize God—may
He bless you and hold you close today. Like Jesus wanted to gather the children
of Israel…that is how I visualize God.
O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets
and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your
children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under [her] wings, but you were
not willing! Matthew 23:37 NKJV
No one can snatch you out of
God’s hand…if you believe and God is your Father.
Prayer
~ Dear God, bless each of us today as we remember St. Patrick—a shepherd slave
who became a Christian believer in Ireland. Like St. Patrick may we continue to
seek You, Lord, and be devoted to You in all that we think, say and do.

Friday’s
Feast at the King’s Table
For Saint Patrick’s Day we’ll be gathering
for a Traditional Irish Celebration of Corned Beef and Cabbage—with Irish Soda
Bread.
Crock-pot Corned Beef
4 large carrots, peeled and cut into matchstick pieces
10 baby red potatoes, quartered
1 onion, peeled and cut into bite-sized pieces
5 cups water
1 (4 pound) corned beef brisket, with spices
1 medium sized head of cabbage, chopped, (optional)
Place
the carrots, potatoes, and onion into the bottom of a slow cooker, pour in the
water, and place the brisket on top of the vegetables. If a spice packet was
provided with the meat, sprinkle on the spices. If no spice packet was
provided, add a heaping tablespoon of pickling spice. Cover, and set the cooker
on Low. Cook for 10-11 hours.
Serve
with cooked cabbage—my family enjoys sweet and sour cabbage, so I cook it
separately from the corned beef. If preferred, during the last hour or two of
simmering the corned beef, you may add a head of cabbage, quartered.
Happy
Saint Patrick’s Day!
