Honey in the Morning, Honey in the Evening…

Do you like honey? Don't eat too much, or it will make you sick! Proverbs 25:16

Too much of anything can make you sick. Likewise a lack of or a delayed in receiving something can also make us sick.

Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but desire fulfilled is a tree of life. Proverbs 13:12 NASB.

Desire fulfilled is sweet to the taste….Proverbs 13:19 NASB.

Walking in a shadow...or the light?
Wisdom is that tree of life to those who take hold of her. Proverbs 3:18. We need to use the wisdom that God gives us and apply His word to our lives.

Be careful how you walk (or eat), not as unwise men, but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil. So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit.  Ephesians 5:15-18 NASB.

Be careful how you walk. Walk or live by the Spirit.

For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. Romans 8:5 NASB.

During this Advent time it is a good time to evaluate “how we are walking?” and living. Is it by God’s word? Do you know what God's purpose is for your life? Worship and fellowship with Him.

Prayer ~ Holy Spirit—guide us as we try to keep our eyes and heart on You…walking and living in a way that is pleasing to You. As you say…”walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desires of the flesh.” Galatians 5:16 NASB.

Friday’s Feast at the King’s Table

My favorite cookie of all time is my Grandma Caroline’s Buttermilk. My cousin found a recipe that we think was Grandma—and I’ve changed it a bit…because I think that Grandma used honey instead of sugar as often as not in her cookies…because we used to take her jars of honey from Dad’s bee hives. She used some of that honey in her cookies.  I’ve also updated it using coconut oil and added 1 tsp cinnamon. I remember Grandma’s cookies as being flavorful.

Grandma’s Buttermilk Cookies

1¼ c. honey (2¼ c. sugar)

2 c. coconut oil, butter or lard

4 eggs

1¾ c. buttermilk

1 t. vanilla

2 t. lemon juice

1¼ t. baking soda

3 t. baking powder

1 t. cinnamon

6 to 6½ c. flour

Whip or melt coconut oil. Mix with eggs, honey and vanilla. Mix the dry ingredients together. Stir dry ingredients together with the egg mixture, alternating with the buttermilk and lemon juice. Roll out dough and cut.  Bake at 375.
