God is the Source of Hope

And in another place it is written, "Rejoice with His people, you Gentiles." And yet again, "Praise the LORD, all you Gentiles. Praise him, all you people of the earth." And in another place Isaiah said, "The heir to David's throne will come, and He will rule over the Gentiles. They will place their hope on Him." I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in Him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. I am fully convinced, my dear brothers and sisters, that you are full of goodness. You know these things so well you can teach each other all about them. Romans 15:10-14

God is so good…He loves the Gentiles.  His promise of salvation is to the Gentiles as well as the Jews. That is God’s mystery revealed. See Romans 11:25-31. God is love. God is mercy. God is hope.

But it was to us that God revealed these things by His Spirit. For His Spirit searches out everything and shows us God's deep secrets. No one can know a person's thoughts except that person's own spirit, and no one can know God's thoughts except God's own Spirit. And we have received God's Spirit (not the world's spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us. When we tell you these things, we do not use words that come from human wisdom. Instead, we speak words given to us by the Spirit, using the Spirit's words to explain spiritual truths. But people who aren't spiritual can't receive these truths from God's Spirit. It all sounds foolish to them and they can't understand it, for only those who are spiritual can understand what the Spirit means. Those who are spiritual can evaluate all things, but they themselves cannot be evaluated by others. For, "Who can know the LORD's thoughts? Who knows enough to teach him? But we understand these things, for we have the mind of Christ.” 1 Corinthians 2:10-16.

I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in Him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13. Trust. Such a powerful word. Consider how that word feels to you. Trust. Who do you trust with your innermost feelings and thoughts?

Prayer ~ I pray that You, Lord God, the source of hope, will fill each of us completely with joy and peace because we trust in You. Then we will overflow with confident hope through Your power, Holy Spirit.

Joy and Peace…during this Advent season…and every day.
