Hope Will Not Be Disappointed

My child, if your heart is wise, my own heart will rejoice! Everything in me will celebrate when you speak what is right. Don't envy sinners, but always continue to fear the LORD. You will be rewarded for this; your hope will not be disappointed. Proverbs 23:15-18

Wisdom gives hope—a purpose. Hope is to expect something beneficial. If your heart is wise…not when, but if. We cannot choose to be wise on our own…but we can ask God to give us wisdom. His wisdom is pure, appropriate, useful, honest, good and true. It gives hope. What more could we want for our children and grandchildren? My heart rejoices—with exceeding great joy—when I see wisdom expressed in their words or actions. It shows their obedience to the Lord and Him working in their lives. It shows their respect…or fear…of the Lord. They will be rewarded for their wise thoughts, words or actions.

Hope will not be disappointed. Just like it says in Romans 5:5… and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us. Romans 5:5 NASB. Hearts—that is where the action is. The heart is not only the physical center of our being…it is the center of our motivations and actions. What motivates you to doing something? The love of God—poured into your heart by the Holy Spirit give great hope. Hope—during this advent holiday season…and every day all year around. Is the love of God your motivation to do something?

Prayer ~ Lord Jesus, You are my motivation. You give me hope and joy—pulling me from the depths of compliancy and of depression. The hope that You give me will not disappoint You…or me. It gives me a reason—a motivation—to live for You.
