Several years ago I was riding in a car
with my brother’s mother-in-law, who is a lovely Christian lady. She realized
she had forgotten to put in earrings, so she pulled out a spare pair. Always
prepared—even if something is forgotten. That is wise advice—be prepared.
Sometimes we are taught by actions, rather than just words. Be prepared. If you
want to be complete or completely ready…take extras with you wherever you go—whether
it is earrings, water or gasoline.
Know what you are going to say if you are
speaking to a group…or even just one person. Hannah, the mother of the prophet
Samuel spoke some good advice when she brought her son to the Temple to fulfill
her promise. She was prepared with her words and advice. Do not boast so proudly, or let arrogant words come out of your mouth, for
the LORD is a God of knowledge, and actions are weighed by Him. 1 Samuel
2:3 HCSB. Powerful words. God judges our actions. Are you prepared to give an
account of the hope that you have in Christ?
Are You Ready? |
Now, who will want to harm you if you are
eager to do good? But even if you suffer for doing what is right, God will
reward you for it. So don't worry or be afraid of their threats. Instead, you
must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your
Christian hope, always be ready to explain it. 1 Peter 3:13-15.
Always be ready to explain your Christian
hope. This is the season that some stranger may just ask you about your views
on Christ and Christmas. That would be a great opportunity for you to explain
your hope—your hope for the season, for mankind, for eternity. Jesus IS the
reason for the season. Don’t forget that. Be prepared.
Prayer
~ Lord Jesus, remind us every day of our reason for our hope in You. Show us
the more perfect way to demonstrate that hope in action, as well as words. May Your
grace and mercy flow through us to just one person or group that really needs
Your love.
