In my search for wisdom and in my
observation of people's burdens here on earth, I discovered that there is ceaseless
activity, day and night. Ecclesiastes 8:16
Have you ever visited a busy city where
people are on the go 24 hours a day? I was surprised to find how much traffic
there is between midnight and three in the morning here in the Tri-Cities where
I live. I’m normally asleep at that time—but I was still up recently and there
were people shopping for groceries during the middle of the night. You’d think
we were in a metropolitan area. Cities like Seattle even have busy highways at
all hours of the day and night. Busy—busy! People are out there…going somewhere…searching
for something—like a way to get rich quick. Money, or the lack of it, is such a
motivating factor. Yet there must be some people today, like Solomon, who are searching
for wisdom. I am. I know the source—it is God. God has united you with Christ Jesus. For our benefit God made Him to
be wisdom itself. Christ made us right with God; He made us pure and holy, and He
freed us from sin. 1 Corinthians 1:30. The wonderful thing about Jesus
making us right with God the Father is that in taking on our sin—to the cross—He
didn’t just cover up our sin with His blood. He washed our sin away—making us
pure and holy.
There is no need for us to have ceaseless activity…searching for…whatever.
We can rest in Jesus. We can find peace in Jesus. Therefore, since we have been made right in God's sight by faith, we
have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. Romans
5:1. God has the same plan for His chosen people, the Jews. This is the message of Good News for the
people of Israel—that there is peace with God through Jesus Christ, who is Lord
of all. Acts 10:36. Peace. Not ceaseless activity.
Prayer
~ Lord God, I am grateful for the peace and wisdom that You provide. I don’t
have to be part of the ceaseless activity that goes on around the world. You
are peace, Jesus. You are wisdom. I find my rest in You.
Friday’s
Feast at the King’s Table
My husband and I recently ate at a
wonderful Indian restaurant in Pasco, Love
Curry. We had the tastiest food that we’d eaten in the Tri-Cities in years.
To begin with we ordered a raw beet salad. I am a beet fan…and have been told
for years that beets are a good liver detoxifier. We all need to detox our
bodies and the best place to start is the liver. God created the liver to detox
our blood daily—so we should give it a boost and detox it. Hope you enjoy this
Raw Beet Salad as much as we did. It was a perfect accompaniment to the spicy
goat curry and lamb chop curry that we also had for dinner.
Indian
Raw Beet Salad
½ cup raw beet, peeled and julienned
½ cup raw daikon, peeled and julienned
1 medium tomato, sliced (about sized
portions as julienned beets)
¼ cup cilantro (or substitute flat leafed
parsley, if preferred)
1 green onion, very thinly sliced (about
sized portions as julienned beets)
Combine vegetables. Divide between two
plates and serve before or with a curry main dish.
