This is what the LORD says: "Don't let
the wise boast in their wisdom, or the powerful boast in their power, or the
rich boast in their riches." Jeremiah 9:23
Boast—to
speak with exaggeration and excessive pride, especially about oneself or to
speak of with excessive pride or vanity.
Boast no more so very proudly, do not let
arrogance come out of your mouth; for the LORD is a God of knowledge, and with
Him actions are weighed. 1 Samuel 2:3
The king of Israel sent back this answer:
"A warrior putting on his sword for battle should not boast like a warrior
who has already won." 1 Kings 20:11
As for me, may I never boast about anything
except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of that cross, my interest
in this world has been crucified, and the world's interest in me has also died.
Galatians 6:14
Salvation is not a reward for the good
things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. Ephesians 2:9
Don’t boast—wise, powerful or rich. That’s
what the Lord wants. God wants His followers to be…humble. The dandelion, a mere weed, is showy, but humble. Humble is pretty much
opposite of boastful. Humble servants. But among you it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among
you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first among you must become
your slave. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others
and to give His life as a ransom for many. Matthew 20:26-28. Do you see
yourself as a humble servant for the Lord?
Prayer
~ Lord on this Memorial Day, let us remember those who have gone before us…who
have given their lives to humbly serve You.
