Better to hear the quiet words of a wise
person than the shouts of a foolish king. Ecclesiastes 9:17
Garden of Gethsemane Gate |
There are some people who rarely say very
much. Those are the ones to whom I listen closely. Their words are usually
wise…and worth listening to. Kings…or presidents…are not necessarily wise just
because of their responsibilities or position. What “wise” words have you heard
lately from any worldly political leader or even from a hopeful politician
running for office?
What makes words “wise”? Are they just good
advice for living? Are they cleaver thoughts on how to do something in a
profound way? Are they discerning—showing right from wrong? Are they words that
provide good judgment based on righteous living or true knowledge?
Whatever “wise” words you happen to hear, I
hope that you listen closely and discern them for yourself. I think that shows
true wisdom. Think for yourself. Be a gate keeper of your own heart and mind.
Prayer
~ Lord God, open my ears and heart to hear Your still small voice speaking
quiet wisdom to me. May I be attentive to Your words and apply them to my life.
