Ezekiel had quite an interesting time as a
prophet—filled with the Holy Spirit. The visions that he had rival present day
sci-fi movies. Flying cherubim—angels—with wheels. Can you imagine how the Jews
in exile reacted when they heard Ezekiel’s stories? Do you think that they
believed him? Angels flying around in wheeled vehicles. Really!?! If those
stories were told today on the big screen people would be sitting on the edge
of their chairs with their mouths hanging open waiting to see what would happen
next. But then there are more extravagant plots and stories out there that
would make Ezekiel’s stories boring and mundane. The Holy Spirit filled and
guided Ezekiel. When the vision left him, he was sent to tell the exiles what the Lord showed him.
Ezekiel was obedient—unlike the rebellious Israelites.
Which are you like…Ezekiel or the
Israelites?
Prayer
~ Holy Spirit, I get it that obedience is important. Guide me that I would be obedient like Ezekiel.
