Things happen just by the word of the Lord
or the Spirit—the Holy Spirit. He guides directs, comforts, teaches, corrects
and encourages. Additionally, the sword of the Spirit is the Word if God.
For our struggle is not against flesh and
blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of
this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly
places. Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to
resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. Stand firm
therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the
breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of
the gospel of peace; in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with
which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is
the word of God. With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the
Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and
petition for all the saints…. Ephesians 6:12-18.
In this passage in Zechariah, the Lord was
speaking to Zerubbabel, the governor. The Temple was being rebuilt by the power
of the Holy Spirit. The Lord was explaining that it was the Holy Spirit that
was rebuilding the Temple…and the lives of the Hebrew people. Power and might
of the nation couldn’t rebuild the Temple unless the Lord was in it. Zerubbabel
was witnessing God’s power as the Temple was reconstructed.
Do you see the power of God working in your
life? Are you putting on your spiritual armor so that you will be able to
resist when evil presents itself?
Prayer
~ Holy Spirit, I pray that You will help me to recall, recite, and live out my
life standing firm with the spiritual armor covering me. The Word of God is
precious to me. I want to always be alert and persevere as I grow in knowledge
and understanding of Your word and Your ways…and pray for my sisters and
brothers in Christ. Be a blessing today to those who seek and serve You, Lord
God.
