Arrogant Attitude?

The vision of Obadiah. Thus says the Lord God concerning Edom. We have heard a report from the Lord, and an envoy has been sent among the nations saying, “Arise and let us go against her for battle. Behold, I will make you small among the nations, You are greatly despised. The arrogance of your heart has deceived you. You who live in the clefts of the rock, in the loftiness of your dwelling place, who say in your heart, ‘Who will bring me down to earth?’ Though you build high like the eagle, though you set your next among the stars, from there I will bring you down,” declares the Lord.  Obadiah 1:1-4

In this vision the Lord gives Obadiah a message through the Holy Spirit that is not good for the Edomites—those descendants of Esau. They are arrogant people—thinking of themselves more highly than they should. Proverbs tells us…The fear of the Lord is to hate evil. Pride and arrogance and the evil way and perverted mouth, I hate. Proverbs 8:13. God hates evil…and arrogant attitudes. Obadiah is given the vision that God will destroy—wipe out—the Edomites. There is no question that that land that Edom occupies will be given, by this prophesy, to Israel. The arrogant people loose. How’s your attitude? Does God see any arrogance in your heart?

Prayer ~ Holy Spirit, search me and know my heart. If there be any arrogance in me, show me, and wipe that away from my thoughts, words and actions. I want to be pleasing to You.
