No Fear

Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Are not two sparrows sold for a cent? And yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So do not fear; you are more valuable than many sparrows. Matthew 10:28-31

No fear. Jesus warns us not to fear other people—but to fear Satan who can destroy a person’s body and soul in hell. He reminds us of how important we are to our Heavenly Father—we are worth more than lots of sparrows. Sparrows weren’t worth much during Jesus’ time…and they are not worth much now. Why would they be of much value? They are just plain little brown birds, but they do eat weed seeds and bugs—so they have more value that most people would give them. What value do we have? We don’t eat weed seeds or bugs—yet God values us. Give Him the glory and honor.

RSVP: Jesus is telling us not to be afraid. How will you respond to Him today?

Prayer ~ Dear God, we praise You and give You glory. We are honored that You find value in us—we are worth more to You than many sparrows.
