Are You Rested?

“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” Matthew 11:29 The Message

Are you rested? Spiritually rested? What does that mean? Are you at peace with God…and with everyone you know? So what is the best way to get spiritually rested? The best way I know is to saturate myself in God’s Word—to read and study it. I love to read a passage and look up all the referenced verses…and those often take me to other referenced verses. It is a real peace-giving way to spend an hour or so. Read more—learn more. That is what Jesus wants us to do—to learn from Him. To learn to live at peace with Him and everyone. Freely and lightly. Such a great way to start the Advent Season—seeking peace in yourself. This is December already! Not much time left in this year. Are you going to end the year feeling rested?

RSVP: Jesus is inviting us today to come to Him and get some rest. Some spiritual rest. How will you respond to Him today?

Prayer ~ Jesus, I want the rest that You offer—that peace that passes all understanding. Pour it bountifully onto me, my family, friends, and neighbors. May we spread Your peace to everyone we know and meet. Thank You for Your love and for teaching us to lean on You and find rest in You.
