The Golden Rule. Treat others the way you want to be treated. Good advice
to five year olds—or 70 year olds. Life is rough…but it helps when others treat
you with kindness and respect. No bullying—no sarcastic remarks about your
hair, height, teeth or age. My grandmother tried to teach her grandkids to
follow the “if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all” rule.
It is a good rule to follow—fits right in with the Golden Rule. No one wants to
be treated unkindly or to have uncouth things said about them. It must have
been wonderful to have lived around Jesus—at least for His followers. He didn’t
say or do unkind things to others—even when the Pharisees tried desperately to trick
Him. If we live like Jesus, then we will be compassionate, kind, generous, and forgiving
towards others. How do you want others to treat you?
RSVP: Jesus is appealing to you to treat others the way
you want to be treated. How will you respond to Him today?
Prayer ~ Jesus, You were such a good example to us.
Help us to live like You lived—showing kindness, compassion, and forgiveness.
This will be a good way to end this year…and to start the New Year.
