Twenty-five
years ago, on this day in Spanaway, Washington, a man broke into his ex-wife’s
home and shot her, her new husband, his own two daughters, and then turned his
gun on himself. That was my sister and her family. Five people dead in a matter
of a few minutes. Hundreds of people horrified by his actions mourned the loss
of those four defenseless people. Had that gunman never heard of the Ten
Commandments…of “Thou shalt not kill.”? Of course he had. Why did this
senseless killing occur…and why do similar murders happen around the world
today? Jealously, envy, lust, selfishness, fear, hate, or lack of respect for
themselves and God? Why? In spite of it all, God so loved that family that was shot down twenty-five years ago.
Life goes
on…and then it stops. Everyone’s life on earth ends sooner or later. Where will
you go when your life ends? Don’t just wonder. Know. God promised that those
who believe in His Son, Jesus, will have eternal life. John 3:16. God so loved
the world. He so loves you.

God promised. How will you respond to Him today?
Prayer
~ God, I believe that Jesus IS your son—your only begotten son, in whom you are
well pleased. I look forward to a long—eternal—life with You in Heaven one day.
Thank You for Your sacrifice and Your mercy.
25 years ago today…God loved a family…and
the world.
