Workman
here—reporting for duty. Willing to work hard and to dig into the word. Not
ashamed of God’s Word.
To handle
this word of truth accurately we need more than a front-end loader and a dump
truck—a pick-axe and a shovel wouldn’t even help. We need wisdom—which comes
from God—an attitude of devotion and a focus that keeps us from worldly chatter
and ungodliness. Paul was directing Timothy here to keep away from the
inaccurate interpretations of false teachers. Wow! Be careful to whom you
listen. There are still false teachers out there and they’d like nothing better
than to have you and your money follow them. We need to be careful about how we
diligently study God’s Word.
Training Tip – Do your children know the song “Be Careful, Little
Eyes”? This song teaches children to be careful of what they see, hear, speak,
and of where they go. This can be applied to diligently studying God’s
Word—rather than worldly things.
Be Careful, Little Eyes
O
be careful little eyes what you see
O
be careful little eyes what you see
There's
a Father up above
And
He's looking down in love
So,
be careful little eyes what you see
O
be careful little ears what you hear
O
be careful little ears what you hear
There's
a Father up above
And
He's looking down in love
So,
be careful little ears what you hear
O
be careful little hands what you do
O
be careful little hands what you do
There's
a Father up above
And
He's looking down in love
So,
be careful little hands what you do
O
be careful little feet where you go
O
be careful little feet where you go
There's
a Father up above
And
He's looking down in love
So,
be careful little feet where you go
O
be careful little mouth what you say
O
be careful little mouth what you say
There's
a Father up above
And
He's looking down in love
So,
be careful little mouth what you say.
Lord Jesus, we want to study Your words
respectfully, being focused on what You want us to learn. Show us incredible
truths that we can apply to our lives today.
